Tips for Washing Your Car
Life these days is busy. If you have a family, your life is filled with work obligations, family time, and dates with your kids and/or spouse. In all this busyness, you can find that you care gets rather dirty quickly and in need of a wash. Of course, you could wash the car yourself or hire a company like ours to do a professional auto detail job. If you have the time to wash your car, all you’ll need to do to make some preparations and you’ll be ready to go. After cleaning your car, you’ll feel better since everything will look clean and perfect.
Preparing to Do the Job
Before you start the job, be sure that you’ve got the right cleaning supplies. You’ll need car wash soap, a special wash mitt made of lambswool, and two buckets (one for soapy water and one for clean water). Also gather these supplies:
- Soft bristled brush
- Interior cleaner
- Wheel cleaner
- Microfiber towels
- Spray wax
- Glass cleaner
Another thing to remember is to not clean your car on a hot day outside. When cleaning your car, part it outside under a tree in the shade. The reason for this is that the combination of heat and sunlight will make soapy water dry to too quickly right on the surface on your car. You don’t want that.
How to Clean the Interior
First things first – remove all the trash. Throw all all the trash by putting all of it and related items into a bag. Then go through your car and look for any additional items like coins or pens and remove them. After you’ve removed everything from the interior of your car, you’re ready for the next step, Vacuuming.
The best type of vacuum to use is a vacuum at a car wash or a shop vac. Use this vacuum to clean every square inch of the inside interior. Try to get every piece of dirt, crumb, or dust that you can fine. Push seats downward and vacuum thoroughly under every seat as well as in between each sat.
Next, spay the doors with interior cleaner. Using a brush, scrub the doors and wipe each one with a town. Repeat the process a few times on each door until all the dirt and dust has been removed.
Lastly, wash all the windows with glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth. Dry each window and buff them with the unused dry side of the cloth.
How to Clean the Exterior
Start by spraying off the outside of the water. Next, spray down the wheels and tires and move on the cleaning the wheels. One of the best things to do here is use the soft bristled brush to loosen up dirt. Then wipe each wheel and tires with a cloth, and repeat over and over until all the dirt has been removed. Be sure to use a different cloth for your wheels than than what you use on the rest of your car. This prevents dirt and sand from damaging the exterior of the car.
The washing process involves working from the top of the car, all the way down it, and washing it with soapy water. Keep all the areas wet on the car until you’re ready to rinse soapy water will dry and leave ugly marks. After all this, rinse the soap off and use the squeegee to remove as much water as possible. Finish by drying the car with microfiber towels.
Now that you’ve cleaned your car, work hard on a maintaining the schedule of washing the interior and exterior of your car. One of the things you can do here is to wipe the interior doors Wonce or twice a month, and wash the exterior every few weeks. Your cleaning effort will be minimized if you wash it more frequently.
